Problem :
Architects rely on images to communicate their designs, but adding people to scenes takes days and specialist skills. Existing databases of cutouts are limited, generic and often fail to represent diverse demographics, activities and contexts. This slows down delivery time and increases project costs.
Results :
The Cutout Generator allows users to generate, adjust and instantly populate scenes with diverse, poseable people. This reduces design iteration time by up to 80% and saves days of manual work.
Process :
I began with a UX audit of the current platform and competitive benchmarking to identify gaps and best practices. Low-fidelity sketches explored layouts, user flows and core functionality. The cutout patterns were then integrated into Gendo’s design system for consistency and scalability.

Users upload a visualisation or select a canvas rendering, define demographics, context, style, and pose, review and adjust cutouts, and export the final visualisation. The tool produces diverse, high-quality and contextually accurate cutouts that match perspective, lighting and activity.
